Taking Password Security Seriously

Security is an important aspect of our lives whether we’re talking about our home or our cars. In the modern age, however, one of the most important aspects of your life to secure is your computer. You can do virtually everything online now, so you need to make sure your dealings are protected.
There are plenty of programs that can help increase your computer security, but the best thing you can do is use secure passwords. Simple passwords can be the gateway into your bank, your business accounts and more. With the rise of cybercrime, now is the best time to start taking password security seriously and opting for premium cyber security services.
Password Basics
The first thing you need to do when optimizing your password security is to pick one that people won’t guess. The first things hackers try are passwords like qwerty and 123456. After that, they tend to try personal information like your name or your birthday. Stay away from anything someone could guess easily.
For the best results, you’re going to need a relatively long password around 16 characters at least. Pick something that only makes sense to you, so you can have a password that’s complicated while still easy to remember. Using these tactics goes a long way to stop brute force hackers from breaking in. Remember to use different passwords for different accounts as well.
Password Managers
Creating a unique password for a few accounts isn’t too tough, but we do a lot of things online now. When you have 20 accounts ranging from social media to video streaming services to your electric company, it can be hard to remember each unique password. To solve this problem, consider obtaining password manager software.
This software is specifically designed to help you keep track of all your different passwords. While this software requires a password itself, remembering that one is much easier than remember the other 20 or so you have. As an added bonus, these programs can generate passwords for you that are made to be complicated and unique to you.
2-Factor Authentication
Making your password long and complicated is a great way to help you stay protected, but it does not grant you immunity. People who figure it out will still have access to your accounts. A great way to prevent infiltration is to create another layer of security in addition to your password.
The extra layer of security usually involves something like sending a randomly generated code to your cell phone that expires within a short period of time. Without that code that’s sent to your personal phone, a hacker won’t be able to gain access to your account even if they know your password.
